Where this record sits
This list is Birmingham and Sutton Coldfield. Solihull, Wolverhampton, Dudley, Walsall and Coventry are not added to a Birmingham card.
Terraces, inter-war houses and later suburbs sit inside the city. A Birmingham heading is not a Black Country firm under another name.
How to read a price for this kind of work
Roofing
A roof price usually moves with access, how much of the covering is replaced, and whether scaffolding or VAT sits outside the first figure. Ask which of those are included before you compare two quotes. This site does not price the job.
Windows & Doors
A window price should say whether the frame, the glass, making good and taking the old unit away are included. This site does not price the job.
What to ask before you phone
When you phone BJ CROSBIE BUILDERS LTD, use this record as the starting point: 6 Blackwood Drive, Streetly, Sutton Coldfield, West Midlands, England, B74 3QF. Ask whether they will visit your postcode, then ask the questions that match the work.
Roofing
Say whether you need a roof repair, a patch or a new covering, and ask how the roof will be reached.
Work that changes the structure, or a new covering on a listed building, may need building control or consent. A name on this list is not that consent.
- Is the visit a repair, a patch, or a new covering?
- How will the roof be reached, and is scaffolding inside the figure?
- Which part of the covering is included, and what is left out?
- When can someone look at the roof?
Windows & Doors
Ask whether the quote is for the glass only, or for the frame, the sill and making good.
Replacing a window like for like is a different job from cutting a new opening. Listed buildings and conservation areas can need consent. FENSA, when it is on the record, is a competent-person scheme. This site does not issue it.
- Is the quote for the glass only, or for the frame, the sill and making good?
- Is the old unit taken away?
- Does the opening stay the same size?
- If the building is listed or in a conservation area, who deals with consent?
