A list per trade

Choose a trade in London, Manchester, Birmingham, Leeds or Bristol, then open the list. Phone, email, or use the website on the record. This site does not take the job, pass it on, or promise a reply.

  • No account to open a list.
  • Calculators stay in this browser.
  • You contact the business.
  • Cost and grant pages name a source and a date.

Where do you want to start?

A phone number, a cost page, a grant page, or a calculator. Each one stays on this site. None of them sends the work to someone else.

  1. 01

    A phone number

Choose the trade and the city. The list shows the name, the area and a phone number. A website, an email, a qualification or 24-hour cover appears only when it is already on the record.

Opens the published list for that trade and city. You phone the business yourself.

  2. 02

    What the work usually costs

A cost page says what a price is usually made of. A figure is published with the source and the date it was checked. It is a reference before you ask, not a quote from us.

    Cost guides
  3. 03

A grant that may still be open

A grant page says whether a scheme can still be used, and who can apply. A window that has closed is written as closed.

    Grants and rules
  4. 04

    A range before you phone

Five calculators run in the browser. The measurements you type are not uploaded. The result is a range to read, not a price from this site.

  1. 01

    Choose the trade

Roofing, windows, damp proofing, carpentry, plastering, and the other trades below. Each has its own list.

  2. 02

    Open the list

Read the name, the area covered and the phone number. London, Manchester, Birmingham, Leeds and Bristol each have their own lists.

  3. 03

    Use the details yourself

Phone, send an email, or open the website on the record. Nothing is booked for you between the list and that conversation.

Gas Safe, NICEIC, NAPIT, TrustMark or FENSA is shown only when that qualification is already on the record. This site does not award it, and it does not guarantee the work.

Cities

Five cities are on the directory.

London, Manchester, Birmingham, Leeds and Bristol each have their own page. Open the city, choose a trade, and use the phone number on the record.

A town that belongs with the city stays on that city’s list. Salford stays with Manchester. Sutton Coldfield stays with Birmingham. Bath is not added to Bristol. Malta is not a city on this list.

Five calculators. The sums stay here.

Each one states its assumptions before you type. Nothing is uploaded. A result is a range to take into a conversation, not a quote.

  1. 01

    Roof area calculator

A roof area from the measurements you enter, before you ask a roofer for a price.

  2. 02

    Heating load calculator

A heating load from room sizes, so a boiler or heat-pump conversation has a figure to start from.

  3. 03

    Heat pump savings calculator

A comparison you can read beside a grant page. The page names what it assumes. It does not offer a tariff.

  4. 04

    Renovation budget calculator

A budget range for work on a home. Use it before you phone, not as the price a builder will charge.

  5. 05

Day rate to hourly rate calculator

An hourly comparison so a day rate is easier to read. It is not a rate this site sets.

Guides

Read the figure before you ask for a price.

Three shelves. None of them is a quote, and none of them is a promise that a scheme is still open unless the page says so, with a date.

Costs

What a job’s price is usually made of. When a number appears, the page names where it came from and when it was checked.

Grants

Whether a scheme can still be used, and who can apply. A closed window stays closed on the page.

Maintenance

A fault, a season, and whether it is time to call someone. The blog does not diagnose your house from a form.

FAQ

Before you phone.

No. Lists, cost pages, grant pages and the five calculators open without a sign-in. There is no profile to create and no listing to claim.

No. The directory does not take a description of the work and it does not pass a job on. You phone, email, or open the website on the record. A reply is between you and that business.

No. Gas Safe, NICEIC, NAPIT, TrustMark or FENSA is shown only when that qualification is already on the record. Local Trades UK does not award it and does not guarantee the work.

London, Manchester, Birmingham, Leeds and Bristol. Choose a trade inside the city, then phone the business yourself. Malta is a separate list, with prices in euro.

Company registers, public qualification registers, trade association directories, and records entered by hand. A field that is not on the record is left blank.

Email support@localtradesuk.com with the business name, the city, the trade, and the address of the record. The privacy page explains the request.

No. A cost or grant page names the source and the date it was checked. The figure is there so you can read it before you ask a business for a price. It is not an offer from this site.

In practice

Three things the directory actually does.

The number is on the record.

You dial it, or you use the email or the website when those are printed there. The page does not place the call.

A figure keeps its source.

When a cost page or a grant page states a number, it names the publication and the date that number was checked. That is for reading before you ask.

The sum stays in the browser.

Each calculator runs on its own page. The measurements you type are not uploaded, and the result is not turned into a price from us.

One visit

How a visit runs, in order.

  1. 01Open a trade
  2. 02Read the record
  3. 03Check a figure
  4. 04Phone or email
  5. 05Correct a line

Open the trade. Read the name, the area and the phone number. If you want a figure before you call, open a cost guide or one of the five calculators. Then contact the business yourself. If a line should be changed or taken down, email support@localtradesuk.com with the business name, the city, the trade and the address of the record.

The directory

What this directory is, and what it refuses to do.

A list, not a desk that takes jobs

Local Trades UK is a list of local tradespeople for people who look after a home in the United Kingdom. The lists that are open are London, Manchester, Birmingham, Leeds and Bristol. You choose a trade, open the names, and contact the business yourself.

The page you are on does not sell a website, a badge, or a place at the top of a list. It does not ask you to describe a job so that someone else can send it out.

What a record shows

A record has a name, a trade, a city, the area covered, and a phone number. A website, an email address, a qualification, or 24-hour cover is included only when it is already there. An empty field is left empty.

What the phone call is for

You use the number on the record. The directory does not stay on the line, book the visit, or promise that anyone will answer. If you would rather read the contact details first, Get contact details walks through that and then opens the list.

Costs, grants and the calculators

Cost pages say what a price is usually made of, and they name where a figure came from and when it was checked. Grant pages say whether a scheme can still be used. The calculators run in the browser. They do not upload the measurements you type, and they do not turn the result into a price from us.

If a line is wrong

Write to support@localtradesuk.com. Name the business, the city, the trade, and the address of the record. That is how a correction or a removal starts. The directory is run by localtradesuk.

A house with a lit interior at dusk, seen across a lawn.

The house is the setting. The useful part of this site is a name, a trade and a phone number.

Open a list, then use the number yourself.

Local Trades UK will take you as far as the record. The call, the email and the website are yours.
