How to correct a record Browse the directory
  • The lists open without an account.
  • You contact the business yourself.
  • A qualification appears only when the record already has it.

What these pages are for

A directory you can phone

A card names the business, the trade, the place, and a phone number, plus an address or a service area. A website, an email, opening hours, 24-hour cover, a qualification, a founding year, or a short description is added only when that field is already on the record. An empty field stays off the page.

Guides with a source and a date

A cost page and a grant page name where the figure came from and the date it was checked. On the United Kingdom pages the amounts are in pounds. The figure is there so you can read it before you ask a business for a price. It is a reference, and the quote itself comes from that business.

Calculators on your device

The calculators for roof area, heating power, heat-pump savings, a renovation budget, and hourly rates run in the browser. The measurements you type stay on this device.

The work stays with the business

There is no sign-in, no profile, and no claim on a listing. Get contact details takes a city and a trade, then opens the list already published for that choice. The form leaves out your name, your phone number, and a description of the job. It does not forward a message.

A reply, a site visit, and a written price stay between you and the business. Local Trades UK does not pass the job on, and it does not promise that anyone will answer.

The building work is sold by the business you hire. This site does not sell that job, and it does not insure it.

On a United Kingdom record, Gas Safe, NICEIC, NAPIT, TrustMark, or FENSA is shown only when that qualification is already there. On a Malta record, a qualification is shown only when it can be checked in Malta, such as a REWS authorisation. Local Trades UK does not award these qualifications and does not guarantee the work. Membership of a trade association is not printed as a qualification badge.

Where the lists cover

The United Kingdom lists are for homeowners in London, Manchester, Birmingham, Leeds, and Bristol. They cover roofing, plumbing and heating, electrical work, windows and doors, damp proofing, carpentry and joinery, plastering, painting and decorating, building work, and gardening and landscaping. A neighbouring town that belongs with one of those cities is named on that city page, and it does not have a city page of its own.

Malta is a separate directory on this same domain. It is a whole-island section, with its own trade lists, prices in euro, and phone numbers that use +356. The language there is English as used in Malta. Valletta, Sliema, St Julian's, Birkirkara, Mosta, and Gozo can be used as a service-area filter. They are not city pages. United Kingdom businesses stay off the Malta lists, and Malta businesses stay off the United Kingdom lists.

The same United Kingdom lists can be opened in Polski and in Română. Those entrances are for people who read those languages and live in the United Kingdom. The business name, the address, and the qualifications stay as published, with a short gloss beside a qualification. You still make contact yourself. Most businesses reply in English. Those pages do not say that a business speaks Polish or Romanian. The Malta lists are not translated there.

How a line gets onto a page

A record repeats details that already appear on a public company register, including Companies House, on a public qualification register, in a trade association directory, or on the business’s own website. Some lines are typed in by hand from those kinds of sources. A phone number, a company number, or a year of trading that is not already held is left off the page.

A wrong line, or a line you want taken down, is handled from the privacy page. Email support@localtradesuk.com with the business name, the city or Malta, the trade, and the address of the record. Once that email identifies the record, the correction or the removal is made within 48 hours.

Questions about the operator

Who publishes Local Trades UK?

The public name is Local Trades UK. The operator is localtradesuk. The contact address is support@localtradesuk.com.

Does the site certify a business?

A qualification is printed only when the record already holds it. On a United Kingdom record that can be Gas Safe, NICEIC, NAPIT, TrustMark or FENSA. On a Malta record it is a Malta qualification, such as a REWS authorisation. Local Trades UK does not award these qualifications and does not guarantee the work.

Does the site sell the building work?

The price and the work come from the business you contact. Local Trades UK does not sell that job, does not pass the job on, and does not promise a reply.

Which places have a list?

The United Kingdom lists cover London, Manchester, Birmingham, Leeds and Bristol. Malta is a separate directory on this same site, with prices in euro and phone numbers that use +356. Polish and Romanian entrances open the same United Kingdom lists.

What do the Polish and Romanian pages change?

The interface and the local notes are in that language. The business name, the address and the qualifications stay as published. You still contact the business yourself. The pages do not say that a business speaks Polish or Romanian. Malta lists are not translated there.

How is a wrong line corrected?

Email support@localtradesuk.com with the business name, the city or Malta, the trade, and the address of the record. The privacy page sets out that request. Once the email identifies the record, the correction or the removal is made within 48 hours.
