Costs
How to read a roof, boiler, rewire or damp cost.
Each guide below says what a published band is made of, where the band came from, and the date it was checked. You still phone the business and ask for a price for your house.
Checked 14 October 2026. Amounts in pounds, for homes in England.
Guides on this shelf
- New roof cost: what the price includes. Shape, area, scaffold and VAT, from a published October 2026 guide. The band is a reference, and the quote comes from the roofer.
- Boiler replacement cost: what the price includes. A like-for-like combi swap, and a published London average of about £3,700. Manchester, Birmingham, Leeds and Bristol are not given their own pound totals. Gas work needs a Gas Safe engineer.
- House rewire cost: what the price includes. Size of home, the test beforehand, and the plaster and floors that often sit outside the figure.
- Damp treatment cost: what the price includes. Why a per-metre injection price leaves out replastering, and why a rain patch may be a roof leak.
How to use a figure on this site
A card in the directory can show a phone number, an address or a service area, and a qualification when that qualification is already on the record. It does not show a price for your job. These guides are the place to read a national band before you call.
Local Trades UK does not sell the work, does not pass a job on, and does not promise a reply. There is no account. Get contact details opens the list for a city and a trade. The form leaves out your name, your phone number and a description of the job.
The lists that are open cover London, Manchester, Birmingham, Leeds and Bristol. A Polish or Romanian entrance uses those same lists. You still contact the business yourself. The Malta directory is separate: prices there are in euro, and these pound figures do not apply.
If a scheme might pay for part of the work, read that on the grants shelf. A closed scheme stays closed. A fault that may not need a tradesperson yet is on the maintenance shelf.
