The plasterers list is for skimming, plasterboard and render. The window fitters list is for replacement windows, double glazing and doors. The carpenters and joiners list is for doors, stairs and fitted joinery. A place on those lists is not a statement that every one of those jobs is offered. Ask R CLARK AND SONS LTD what they will take on.
Where this record sits
Leeds here includes Morley, Pudsey, Horsforth, Otley, Yeadon, Guiseley and Wetherby. Bradford, Wakefield, Huddersfield and Harrogate are not on this list.
Stone and brick houses, including terraces away from the centre, are common. Ask which of those towns the firm will actually visit.
How to read a price for this kind of work
Plastering
A plastering price should say whether it includes the board, the skim and the time before the wall can be painted. This site does not price the job.
Windows & Doors
A window price should say whether the frame, the glass, making good and taking the old unit away are included. This site does not price the job.
Carpentry & Joinery
A joinery price should separate the timber, the fitting and the making good. Ask what was measured on site and what was assumed. This site does not price the job.
What to ask before you phone
When you phone R CLARK AND SONS LTD, use this record as the starting point: Office 010 Upper Wortley Business Centre, 127 Upper Wortley Road, Leeds, England, LS12 4JG. Ask whether they will visit your postcode, then ask the questions that match the work.
Plastering
Ask what has to be ready before the plasterer arrives, and when the wall can be painted.
Skimming a wall that is still damp, or render on a listed front, can be the wrong next step. This list does not diagnose the wall.
- Is this a skim, new board, or render?
- What has to be dry and ready before you arrive?
- When can the wall be painted?
- Is the board included, or only the labour?
Windows & Doors
Ask whether the quote is for the glass only, or for the frame, the sill and making good.
Replacing a window like for like is a different job from cutting a new opening. Listed buildings and conservation areas can need consent. FENSA, when it is on the record, is a competent-person scheme. This site does not issue it.
- Is the quote for the glass only, or for the frame, the sill and making good?
- Is the old unit taken away?
- Does the opening stay the same size?
- If the building is listed or in a conservation area, who deals with consent?
Carpentry & Joinery
A firm that only sells a kitchen and does not fit it is not what this list is for.
A new structural opening, a fire door, or work in a flat with a management company can need more than a joiner’s visit. A listing is not that approval.
- Is this supply only, or supply and fit?
- What was measured on site, and what was assumed?
- Does the price include making good after the fit?
- Does the job change a structural opening or a fire door?
